Beware the depths of the mind.. Beware the depths of the mind.. I try to deceive myself Don’t you understand? Feel it … I am sorry The Witch don’t you understand? Everything is for her. Look up Look up She sees you and she is ready Don’t be frightened She sees you I am sorry Always sorry for everything I am so tired And she understands She hates us

Stillness… Emptiness… We breathe it in one last time As we step into the wilderness. Our vendetta must be satisfied. Wrongs cannot be left undone. We were in the Black Forests The Black Forests of Germany Where life tears itself apart Our rage unfurls with each step. We feel our blood boil. the Sun falls through from above The sound of footfall alarms us. Stealthy are our movements. Each step succor our thirst We reach the source now She is standing there waiting She is wearing the red mask Her arcane gestures transfix us The mask illuminates the forest We now understand everything She presents the knife to us We begin to cut We bleed out in the Black Forest Her eyes guide the blade The earth begins to spin She raises her arms and we fall Our enemies appear motionless Drained of life and a their hate Who will survive? I see her smile and I smile She motions us to arise The children are released They run past us victorious Our vengeance has been satiated We have been released eternally

The clouds were strange the year the earth died. I had noticed the ominous formations early in the fall. We had defeated the leviathans but the witch still lived. I had survived the knife fight but I was not unscathed. We had made preparations for the final confrontation. I had stolen the red mask in the black forests and now it was only inevitable. The bird wings were arranged to cover the mask. Conquest was assured. Who will survive in this wasteland? Military cowards had washed the horizon red in their attempt to flee. Their abominations of science had hunted us as well. Night after night the horrors continued until we could take no more. Deep into meditation we take ourselves …until we make contact. I look to the sky once again and I find our answer. The clouds move and reshape themselves. I now know the Witch’s intentions: she will flee our blue pearl. We must move quickly before The Gate has been closed. We have a hunger for justice that is insatiable. The Witch has fled our blue pearl. I have enlisted five of my most trusted suicidal revolutionaries. Deep into the black we will pursue her and her compatriots. Through the endless depths of the mind and space we will give chase and she will find no respite. We are like the furies of old.

about

In this album Judgehydrogen forges a new apocalyptic mythos that foreshadows his future works. Sonorous female vocals and lush atmospheres. Printed in a handsome slip case and a few surprises. His deepest album to date.

Final Score: 4.5 Moons (out of 5.0)

In his latest release, Judgehydrogen continues to focus on apocalyptic mythology, and the music really sets the mood and scenes, even when there are no lyrics. Compared to his previous releases, this album sounds much more ceremonial and there is more of a focus on the music telling the story rather than the lyrics. His song “The Witch” could really sum up the entire album in regard to story and musical expression, probably because it’s the track with the most spoken words.

As a lover of dark ambient music it’s very hard to not enjoy this album, especially if you’re by yourself, burning incense and just trying to relax. His vocals do a great job of complementing the music, and when there are no vocals the music still takes you on a journey. Although it’s mostly electronic you get a couple surprises here and there, like a random strumming of a guitar near the end of a couple of tracks. But the guitar does not distract or disturb the mood; it truly deepens it. I enjoyed it for its running time, but I felt it could have lasted a little longer. I’m more used to his previous albums that go on for an hour or more and also contain more spoken word. This was a different approach so I was taken aback, but I was not disappointed. In every album he presents and emphasizes a different aspect of his musical abilities.Any Goth that is a lover of dark ambient music or artists such as Dead Can Dance and Coil would love this album. Not only is the atmosphere very dark and peaceful, but his focus on apocalyptic themes and mythology causes the music to convey a lot of interesting imagery.Sacrificial Acts of Transcendence truly transcends the mind to different times and places.
